About the coach

I used to play professionally as the #1 player for the South Carolina State University men’s tennis team. I graduated in sports journalism and then fully focused on coaching.
My experience includes working at leading tennis academies such as Van Der Meer Tennis Academy and Pennsylvania Tennis Academy, where I was assistant head coach.
I’ll help you master the fundamentals, build correct technique and enjoy the game more. I’m also happy to be your sparring partner at any level.
I want every session to be not only effective but fun, so I find what motivates each player and adapt the program to their style and goals.
Vlad was born and raised in Kyiv, where he took his first steps in tennis.
As a junior he trained alongside ATP Tour professionals. Thanks to hard work and talent, he was invited three years in a row (2011, 2012, 2013) by Kyiv team head coach Yosyf Aizenshtat to join the squad. His career then continued overseas at the prestigious Jacksonville Tennis Academy (Florida, USA).
Back in Ukraine, Vlad quickly rose to the top of the national game:
During this time he was offered a place on Ukraine’s national team and faced a choice: continue as a professional player or return to the US to play for the South Carolina State University team.
Vlad played for the university team at #1 or #2 on a full scholarship. His key achievement: three-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion, named the conference’s best player in 2016 and 2017 (#2 position) and in 2018 (#1 position).
After graduating in 2018 with a degree in sports journalism, Vlad earned his USTA and PTR coaching certifications.
In May 2018 Vlad signed with the renowned Van Der Meer Tennis Academy (Hilton Head Island, South Carolina), where he worked with many promising athletes.
In the fall of 2018 he became assistant head coach at Pennsylvania Tennis Academy, where his students achieved strong results.
Vlad keeps growing as a coach, passing his experience on to new generations of players.

Kendall Dougherty wins the U10 tournament in Wooster, Ohio: she beat the top seed in the semifinal and did not drop a single game in the final.

Evelyn Safar wins the L5 U18 tournament in York, Pennsylvania, and moves to #5 in the state U18 ranking.
